Dennis Freire

Dennis Freire was raised on California's Central Coast and has lived in southern Utah for more than thirty-six years. His writing explores family, faith, nature, healing, and the enduring search for meaning.

In his youth and early college years, Dennis worked as a ranch hand and a grocery store produce clerk. He later became a computer operator and programmer, senior care administrator, and business leader. Since 1992, he has been with Leavitt Group, where he currently serves as President of LeavittLink Services, Inc. He has been a guest speaker at conferences and seminars on leadership, technology, and service.

As a young man, Dennis spent twenty-seven months as a volunteer missionary in Japan. There, he became fluent in Japanese and developed a lasting appreciation for language, culture, service, and the ways people find common ground across differences.

Dennis and his wife of forty-four years have seven children and ten grandchildren.

His writing has appeared in Pulse: Voices from the Heart of Medicine and Intima: A Journal of Narrative Medicine. He has performed spoken-word poetry at community and literary events and participates in a writing group at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Written while living with incurable Stage IV cancer, And Still: Arriving is Dennis Freire's debut literary memoir in poems and prose. It traces a path through nature and landscape, family and friendship, childhood trauma and abuse, faith and doubt, suffering and healing, and the search for hope and meaning amid life's uncertainties.
